When I sat down to interview Laura Rice of Studio 13 Dance Studio, I was amazed at how calm and collected she was while surrounded by a slew of kids and parents coming in and out of classes and the constant sound of the phone ringing off the hook. But through it all, she was as cool as a cucumber and answered every question with grace and sophistication, stopping only to answer important questions from moms about her studio. It is because of this "coolness" that Studio 13 has become one of the top dance studios in Simi Valley and one of the reasons why she has been chosen to be our very first "Business Mom of the Month"

What inspired you to start Studio 13?
My daughters Kaycee and Kylie love to dance and everytime I watch them, it makes me smile. I wanted to watch them get better and give them the best opportunity that dance has to offer.  My partner, Charlene Gildehaus and I thought there was no better way to offer that then to start our own studio.

What makes Studio 13 stand out from other dance studios in Simi Valley?
We are on the cutting edge of the dance world and always ready to offer new things to our students. We have professional dance teachers and a professional dance studio atmosphere. Our customer service is very professional and friendly. We are always willing to help and answer questions.

What do you consider your major success since opening Studio 13?
We have reached every goal we had set within one year. And we continue to reach new goals every day.

How do you balance family and business?
My family comes with me to the studio almost every day so I am lucky to have them around. I am also blessed to have such a supportive husband and son. They are my backbone and I couldn't do any of this without them.
